Sonia Boyce transforms the DMA’s Concourse with a large-scale wallpaper that continues her longstanding engagement with music. The seventh iteration of the Museum’s Concourse mural commission, the work features a vibrant pattern inspired by a wallpaper design drawing by American artist Peter Todd Mitchell that Boyce selected from the DMA’s permanent collection. Within the repeating gilded frame motif of the floor-to-ceiling installation, Boyce has embedded the names of 100 songs spanning a range of eras and genres with “love” in their titles, a word that appears perhaps more than any other in popular music.
Sonia Boyce: One Hundred Ways to Love is organized by the Dallas Museum of Art. The Dallas Museum of Art is supported, in part, by generous DMA Members and donors, the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the citizens of Dallas through the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.
