DMA Partners in Book Talk are invited for a special book-club-style discussion of Sabiha Al Khemir’s novel The Blue Manuscript and a related tour.

In the Cook Boardroom on level M2.

The Blue Manuscript tells the story of archaeologists in Egypt and their search to find the fabled manuscript of medieval Islam while simultaneously telling the story of the scribe who wrote it. Through a subtle and elegant narrative, the varied layers of the novel reveal the characters’ path of self-discovery and explore the relationships between ancient and present Islam, and Islam and Western culture. Book Talk participants are encouraged to read the book before the discussion. Following the event, we will tour selected works in Nur: Light in Art and Science from the Islamic World.

Dr. Al Khemir is the DMA’s senior advisor for Islamic art and the curator of Nur: Light in Art and Science from the Islamic World.

Space is limited and a reservation is required. Please reply to Maegan Hoffmann by Monday, May 12, via e-mail at mhoffmann@DMA.org or by calling 214-922-1208.

Sabiha Al Khemir, author of The Blue Manuscript, will speak on April 7, 2014 with Eliza Griswold for a special Arts & Letters Live event. Please consider joining us for this special ticketed event!
