Did you know that William Hoy, a baseball player who is deaf, is the reason we have baseball signals for ball, strike, safe, and out? William was born when Abraham LIncoln was president and he taught umpires the signs so he could play the game. Meet Nancy Churnin, theater critic for the Dallas Morning News and author of The William Hoy Story: How a Deaf Baseball Player Changed the Game. Churnin will read the book, and autographed copies will be available in the DMA Store. Join us for story time and then write a letter about William Hoy for the National Baseball Hall of Fame!

This special story time is presented as a part of Late Nights.
