Technological innovation has always been a driver of fashion, from the animal skins the first humans made to wear for warmth, to today’s remarkable 3D-printed and interactive garments. Focusing on some of the key moments when technology transformed how clothing was made, worn, and valued, Brooklyn Museum Senior Curator of European Art Lisa Small will look at the work of contemporary designers like Iris van Herpen in relation to the history of haute couture.
