In observance of World AIDS Day, join us for a free drop-in tour and film screening recognizing the impact of HIV/AIDS on the art world and on our own city.
Start with a spotlight tour of Félix Gonzáles-Torres’s sculpture Untitled (Perfect Lovers), and then hear from Dallas Red Foundation about the fight against HIV/AIDS in the city of Dallas and how you can help.
Stick around for a screening of Alternate Endings, Activist Risings, a series of short films presented by Visual AIDS and created by six community organizations that use art as a catalyst for activism and advocacy: ACT UP NY, Positive Women’s Network, Sero Project, The SPOT, Tacoma Action Collective, and VOCAL NY. The films represent a wide range of organizational strategies, from direct action to grassroots service providers to nation-wide movement building, while considering the role of creative practices in activist responses to the ongoing AIDS crisis.
Presented in partnership with Visual AIDS and Dallas Red Foundation
