Brettell Lecture: Matters of Intent: Van Gogh's Still Lifes
Size
Text
Van Gogh used still life in facinating ways in order to master each new challenge he set for himself as an artist, such as capturing the essence of rural life, learning the use of modern color, or expressing his appreciation for nature. The painter's still lifes often represented intensely personal commentaries and were instrumental in the unfolding of his oeuvre. Join Dr. Cornelia Homburg, independent scholar and curator, as she investigaes the impact of van Gogh's intense focus on specific objects.
After 3:00 p.m. the day of the event, tickets will no longer be available online but can be purchased at the Visitor Services Desks at the Dallas Museum of Art.
