DMA Partners in the European Art Custom Option are invited to a special reception celebrating the Brettell Lecture Series' new lecture Matters of Intent: Van Gogh's Still Lifes.

After the reception, join Dr. Cornelia Homburg, independent scholar and curator, as she investigates the impact of van Gogh's intense focus on specific objects.
Van Gogh used still life in fascinating ways in order to master each new challenge he set for himself as an artist, such as capturing the essence of rural life, learning the use of modern color, or expressing his appreciation for nature. The painter's still lifes often represented intensely personal commentaries and were instrumental in the unfolding of his oeuvre.
