The Physics of Superheroes

Dr. James Kakalios, mild-mannered physics professor at the University of Minnesota, and the author of The Physics of Superheroes, will show, in a fun and accessible way, that superhero comic books actually get their science right more often than you'd think! Join Kakalios for an in-depth look at the science of superpowers, including the death of Gwen Stacy (Spider-Man's girlfriend) in the now-classic AMAZING SPIDER-MAN no. 121, the high-velocity actions of The Flash, and how quantum mechanics allows Kitty Pryde of the X-Men to walk through walls. Taking his love of comics to Hollywood, he served as science consultant for The Watchmen and The Amazing Spider-Man.
