Text
Sixty years after fleeing Vienna as a girl during World War II, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren) embarks on a difficult and lengthy legal journey to recover personal possessions that were taken from her family by the Nazis. Among the stolen items is Gustav Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, a portrait of Maria's aunt that is considered a national treasure of Austria and a masterpiece of Austrian art. With the help of a young lawyer named Randy Schoenberg (Ryan Reynolds), Maria fights to reclaim these pieces of her family's history and in the process reflects on memories of her life before and during the war.
This film is part of Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art.
