Presented in partnership with Brighter Horizons Academy

The Person is a one-act play that interrogates the human condition, exposing the struggles of non-heroic individuals faced with the types of political, social, and economic abuses that were taking place in Cairo during the post-1952 revolution period. Playwright Alfred Farag was an extraordinary Egyptian mid-century writer who aligned with other experimental and absurdist playwrights, such as Ionesco, Pinter, and Beckett, who used theater as a way to challenge social and political injustices. He understood that through the creative process we might learn, connect, and understand the universality of being human. The play serves as a wonderful companion to experience the Egyptian collection at the DMA.

Directed by Kristin Colaneri

The 40-minute performance will be followed by a Q and A with Tahsina Siddiqui, English Department Head at Brighter Horizons Academy, the director, and cast members.
