DMA curator Dr. Anna Katherine Brodbeck will talk with three artists featured in the new exhibition For a Dreamer of Houses. Hear from Olivia Erlanger, EJ Hill, and Francisco Moreno on how their work relates to concepts of space, home, and belonging. Presenting a selection of artworks drawn from the DMA's permanent collection, the exhibition considers the ways in which artists articulate and reimagine home and how the house is a metaphor for the relationship between ourselves and the external world.
Olivia Erlanger
Olivia Erlanger is a sculptor and writer based in New York City. She studied sculpture and literature at Lewis and Clark College and Parsons School of Design. Recent projects include Garage, a documentary and book with MIT Press, and group and solo exhibitions in New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, and Canada. Erlanger was recently a fellow at IdeasCity 2017 in Arles, France, and a visiting artist at Brown University.
EJ Hill
EJ Hill is a Los Angeles–based artist. Hill received his BFA from Columbia College Chicago and MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has exhibited or performed at Institut d’Art Contemporain, Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes, France; various venues in Los Angeles; the 57th Venice Biennale; and Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, among other locations. He was an artist in residence at Praxis Studio, California State University, Dominguez Hills; Studio Museum; and Artists’ Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions.
Francisco Moreno
Francisco Moreno is a Mexico City–based artist. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Moreno’s work has been exhibited in New York City; Providence, Rhode Island; Stowe, Vermont; Concord, Massachusetts; Dallas; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
