Dallas, TX—July 6, 2023—In elections recently held by the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Board approved the 2023–2024 Board of Trustees, including one new officer and 10 new members with distinction in business, building and design, philanthropy, local arts and culture, leadership, and collecting. Gowri N. Sharma, Board President; Jeffrey S. Ellerman, Chairman of the Board; Sheryl Adkins-Green, Vice President; Venu Menon, Secretary, and Catherine Marcus Rose, Former President, will continue to serve in their roles as Officers of the Board of Trustees for the upcoming year.
The Officers Nominating Committee, chaired by Gowri N. Sharma, announced the unanimous election of Brandon McGuire, Regional President & Head of Corporate Banking at PNC Bank, as Treasurer of the Board. Mr. McGuire has served as Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee for the past three years and succeeds Jun Il Kwun as Treasurer.
The Committee on Trustees & Governance, chaired in 2022–2023 by Sophia Johnson, unanimously nominated and elected, and the Board of Trustees approved, the following 10 individuals to serve as Elected Trustees for a first three-year term: Nancy Carlson, Partner, Carlson Capital, L.P.; Alana Fernandez-Sada; Jeremy Halbreich, Chairman and CEO, AIM Media Management; Ken Lee, Chief Investment Officer, Children’s Health; Daniel O’Grady, Assistant Vice President, Investment Management AT&T Inc.; Lucilo Peña, President of Development, Billingsley Company; Nancy C. Rogers, Owner, NCR Capital; John Runyon, President, Runyon Arts; Peggy Sewell; and Clinton Warren, Managing Director, J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
Additionally, the Board of Trustees approved the election of the following trustees to a second three-year term: Sheryl Adkins-Green, Shonn Brown, Walter Elcock, Arlene Ford, Kelli Ford, Ann Hobson, Venu Menon, Jessica Nowitzki, Adriana Perales, and Amanda Shufeldt.
Representative Trustees elected to serve in the 2023–2024 Board year include Catalina Gonzalez-Jorba and Tori Mulford, DMA Family Forum; Tara Bond-Freeman, DMA League; Laurel Bush, DMA Junior Associates; Mary McDermott Cook, The McDermott Art Fund; Thomas W. Lentz, Foundation for the Arts; and Howard Rachofsky, TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art. Ex-officio trustees for the 2023–2024 Board year include Jim Nugent, City of Dallas, Office of Arts & Culture; Chase Proctor, Legal Affairs; Dr. Harry Robinson, Jr., African American Museum; and Eleanor Putnam, Dallas Junior League.
Those trustees who completed their elected terms at the final Board Meeting, and who have provided generous time, expertise, and passion to the Dallas Museum of Art, include Lauren Bender, Leigh Anne Clark, Bela Cooley, Macey Davis, Shelly Dee, Gela Gallardo, Allison Gaughan, Thomas Hartland-Mackie, Jun Il Kwun, George T. Lee, Jr., Louise Marsh, Cindy Rachofsky, Dan Routman, Adrian Sada, Nancy Shutt, and Michelle Thomas.
In recognition of retiring trustee George T. Lee, Jr., the Museum wishes to acknowledge his 59 years of distinguished service on the Foundation for the Arts Board. Mr. Lee was the third President of Foundation for the Arts and served in this role from 1995 through 2018. Acquisitions for the DMA during Mr. Lee’s tenure at Foundation for the Arts include works by Gustave Courbet, Thomas Eakins, George Inness, Piet Mondrian, Gerald Murphy, Claude Vernet, and Tom Wesselman.
