Kristin Hannah’s new novel The Women is an intimate portrayal of a woman coming of age against the backdrop of a nation divided by war and broken by politics, of a generation both fueled by dreams and lost on the battlefield.

When the brother of nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath ships out to serve in Vietnam, she impulsively joins the Army Nurses Corps and follows his path. Frankie is overwhelmed by the chaos and destruction of war, as well as by the unexpected trauma of coming home to a changed America. She also discovers the true value of female friendship and the heartbreak that love can cause. The Women shines a light on the story of all women who put themselves in harm’s way to help others, whose sacrifice and commitment to their country has been all too often forgotten.

Kristin Hannah, a former attorney, is the award-winning author of more than 20 novels, including The Great Alone, The Four Winds, Firefly Lane, and the international blockbuster The Nightingale, currently in production at TriStar, with Dakota and Elle Fanning slated to star.
