Experience a vibrant, free family-friendly celebration alongside Venezuelan thought leaders, musicians, and scholars, featuring a full day of festivities centered around the DMA's exhibition Marisol: A Retrospective. Immerse yourself in the Museum with live musical performances, engaging art activities, insightful guided gallery talks, authentic Venezuelan cuisine, and a thought-provoking panel discussion.

Harpist Carlos Guedes 
Level 1, Hamon Atrium 
Enjoy a captivating performance by local Venezuelan musician Carlos Guedes, featuring traditional Venezuelan harp music that celebrates the nation's vibrant musical heritage.

 
11:30 AM–12:30 PM 
Let’s Talk About Marisol 
Level 1, inside the Marisol: A Retrospective exhibition 
Join four community volunteers as they share unique and interesting information about the artwork in Marisol: A Retrospective. This is a come and go activity. A ticket to the exhibition is required. 
 
NOON 
Samples of Venezuelan Food by Arepas Street 
Level 1, Hamon Atrium 
Taste delicious classic Venezuelan cuisine provided by Arepas Street. First come, first served. Limited samples available.  
 
NOON–4:00 PM  
Open Studio Art-Making Activity 
Level 4, Tower Gallery 
Take inspiration from Marisol and create a work of art in the Tower Gallery. 
 
1:00–2:00 PM  
Panel: Marisol: Celebrating the Global Venezuelan Experience 
Level 1, Horchow Auditorium 
Engage with local Venezuelan community leaders—Jason Hose, Dallas art professor and author of Marisol: A Retrospective; Marian Ichaso Lefeld, artist and art professor; and Dr. María Boccalandro, Dean of Special Academic Programs at Dallas College—in a dynamic discussion exploring the ”global Venezuelan” identity, Marisol’s international legacy, and the impact of the modern Venezuelan diaspora. 
 
2:00–4:30 PM 
Ensemble "En Acústico" Venezuelan Music Concert 
Level 1, Hamon Atrium 
"En Acústico" specializes in performing traditional Venezuelan music with a contemporary and fresh approach, highlighting the cultural richness of Venezuela.  

 

2:30–3:30 PM
