Join Ikebana expert Motoko Ishihara for an enchanting hands-on experience that shares the history of flower arranging in Japan, including a quiet moment of reflection for the flowers followed by a relaxing teatime with authentic Japanese green tea and sweets. Your day at the Museum will begin with a private tour of the Japanese Art galleries on Level 3, which will include a range of Japanese artworks featuring key floral and natural landscape motifs. Attendees will then begin the workshop, which includes equal parts Ikebana, Japanese cultural immersion, and a meditative and restorative arts experience.
10:00 a.m. - Private tour with DMA Curatorial team before the Museum opens to the public
11:00 a.m. - Workshop begins in Founders Room on Level 2
12:30 p.m. - Group lunch (lunch and drinks included)
1:00 p.m. - Workshop resumes
3:00 p.m. - Workshop concludes and traditional teatime begins
Meet the Artist
Motoko Ishihara is a Japanese Culture Consultant based in Dallas and Japan who has 40-plus years' experience teaching Ikebana and Japanese cultural immersion. Motoko’s mission is to enrich the lives of her students through experiencing Japanese traditional arts, enabling them to have moments of peace, mindfulness, tranquility, joy, and more. She invites you to experience this living art and shared moment of Zen through Ikebana.

Space is limited. Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 6, at 10:00 a.m. for DMA Members and 1:00 p.m. for the public.
Members will receive a password for early access in the DMA Digest or may call Member Services for details.
All supplies and materials are included for each participant to leave with a beautiful flower arrangement to welcome springtime to Dallas.
Lunch and snacks are included.
This event is for ages 16 and up. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Refund Policy
Full refunds are available for cancellations made up to a week prior to the event.
A 50% refund is available for cancellations made 3 to 7 days prior to the event.
Refunds are not available for cancellations made within 48 hours of the event.
