VISITOR GUIDELINES

Text

To make the DMA a safe and enjoyable place for our visitors, volunteers, and staff, please note the following guidelines.

General

  • Visitors must have a general admission ticket for entry.
  • Face coverings are no longer required indoors for fully vaccinated visitors and staff; however, face coverings are recommended to maximize protection per CDC guidance.
  • Tape on the floor near a work of art indicates how far away you should stand from the object. A good general rule is to stand at least three feet away from a work of art.
  • Please do not touch any work of art or Plexiglas casing, including outdoor sculptures.

Food, Drink, and Tobacco

  • No outside food and drink are allowed in the DMA galleries or in the DMA Cafe.
  • No outside alcohol and glass containers are allowed on Eagle Family Plaza or in the Museum's outdoor gallery spaces.
  • No smoking or vaping is allowed anywhere in the DMA, including outdoor Museum spaces, the DMA parking garage, and in front of the entrances.
  • Picnics are allowed on the lawn of Eagle Family Plaza, in the Sculpture Garden, and in Fleischner Courtyard.

Photography Policy
The Dallas Museum of Art recognizes two types of photography: personal and professional.

No institutional permission is required for Personal Photography, which is casual photos taken with a cell phone or a single lens camera. Institutional permission must be sought for Professional Photography, which is the use of multi-lens cameras and any additional equipment, with the intent of taking photos for graduation, prom, birthday, weddings, proposals, etc., with the subjects dressed up for those occasions. Without receiving permission for professional photography and making a reservation, you will not be allowed to take photos on the DMA premises.

  • Selfie sticks, tripods, and monopods are not permitted.
  • Non-flash photography is permitted unless otherwise indicated.

For all Professional Photography requests, please email Maryam Baig at mbaig@dma.org.

Please Note: It is under the DMA's discretion to classify what is deemed as personal and professional photography or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises. DMA staff have the authority to approach and verify the intent of photography and to enforce the Photography Policy.

Art Supplies

  • Sketchbooks and pencils are permitted, but no other art supplies are allowed.

Other

  • Leashed pets are permitted on Ross Avenue Plaza and Eagle Family Plaza.
  • The use of recreational equipment, including soccer balls, footballs, Frisbees, bicycles, skateboards, and rollerblades, is not allowed on Eagle Family Plaza or in the Museum's outdoor gallery spaces.
