The popular radio show and podcast Selected Shorts returns to Arts & Letters Live for an evening of humorous and intriguing short fiction filled with cryptic characters, treachery, and unexpected twists. Acclaimed actor BD Wong will host this night of spellbinding short stories by both established and emerging writers as they take on new life when performed by stars of stage and screen.
BD Wong is a Tony Award-winning actor recognized for his Broadway debut in M. Butterfly, where he won all five major New York theater awards. Select film credits include Bird Box, the Jurassic Park & World franchises, and Mulan1 & 2. He portrayed FBI Forensic Psychiatrist George Huang on Law & Order: SVU for 11 seasons, prison chaplain Ray Mukada on HBO's OZ, “whiterose” in Mr. Robot (Emmy and Critics’ Choice nominations), Hugo Strange in Gotham, Nora's chill Dad, Wally, in Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, and Stuart in All-American Girl. BD serves on the Board of Trustees for The Entertainment Community Fund, American Conservatory Theatre, and Rosie’s Theater Kids.
Brandon J. Dirden starred on Broadway as Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Tony Award–winning production of All the Way with Bryan Cranston, and as Booster in the Tony Award–winning revival of August Wilson’s Jitney. Additional Broadway credits include Skeleton Crew, for which he was nominated for Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards. On screen he has appeared in The Good Wife, The Big C, Blue Bloods, Mrs. America, and four seasons of The Americans. Dirden is an Associate Arts Professor in the Graduate Acting Department in the NYU Tisch Graduate Acting program.
Maggie Siff recently completed a seven-season run as Wendy on Showtime’s Billions, for which she has received three Satellite Award nominations. She is also known for the FX series Sons of Anarchy, receiving two Critics’ Choice Award nominations, and for the role of Rachel Menken on the first season of AMC’s Mad Men (Screen Actors Guild Award nomination). Siff is also an established theater actress; her New York theater credits include Signature Theatre’s production of Curse of the Starving Class, as well as A Lie of the Mind at the New Group, directed by Ethan Hawke.
