Celebrating the current exhibition Mind's Eye: Masterworks on Paper from David to Cézanne, the Dallas Museum of Art brings together several experts for a discussion on collecting and living with works on paper, pieces that can be stunning yet delicate. Join us for insights from these experts. 

 

 

10:00–10:30 a.m.

Co-curators of Mind's Eye: Masterworks on Paper from David to Cézanne William B. Jordan, independent scholar, and Olivier Meslay, Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs and The Barbara Thomas Lemmon Curator of European Art, DMA, discuss the exhibition and the history of collecting works on paper in the Dallas area.

10:30–11:00 a.m.

Scott Schaefer, Senior Curator of Paintings Emeritus, J. Paul Getty Museum and Consultant in International Fine Arts, Sotheby’s, will speak on working with works on paper in museums. 

11:00–11:30 a.m.

 Jill Newhouse, dealer and owner of Jill Newhouse Gallery, will relate her experiences with works on paper, dealing pieces to private and public collectors.

11:30 a.m.–noon

Elizabeth M. Eveillard, collector and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Smith College, will discuss her long history of collecting works on paper.

Noon–1:15 p.m.

Break for lunch: the DMA's Atrium Cafe offers several options for dining, including entrees inspired by Mind's Eye; the symposium will resume at 1:30 p.m.

1:30–2:45 p.m.

Join our special guests for a conversation about collecting works on paper moderated by co-curators William B. Jordan and Olivier Meslay. Following the discussion, the floor will open to questions from the public.

3:00–4:00 p.m.

Visit the Mind’s Eye exhibition; co-curators William B. Jordan and Olivier Meslay will be available for questions in the exhibition. 

An exhibition ticket for Mind’s Eye is included in the ticket price.

After 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, tickets will not be available online but can be purchased on-site at the Dallas Museum of Art beginning at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, September 20.
