Join us to explore the art of poetry. Artists Bill Moran and Madi Mai Parker will lead a workshop exploring and engaging with the craft of poetry and the use of imagery and language. A brief performance will introduce the workshop, and participants are welcome to perform afterwards. A cash bar and light food will be available.

About the Artists:
Bill Moran (Good Ghost Bill) was a proud member of the 2011–2013 Austin Poetry Slam national team, and was the 2012 and 2013 Austin Poetry Slam Champion and the 2013 Southern Fried Haiku Champion. He has co-directed the Texas Grand Slam two years running, been featured at venues and taught workshops nationwide and internationally, conducted long-term poetry programs at a local juvenile justice center, and released four books and a CD. For the moment, he is the president of Mic Check, a nonprofit poetry and spoken word organization based in Brazos County, Texas.
Madison (Madi) Mae Parker is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in English Creative Writing. Having only been in the poetry slam world for a little over a year, she has competed in several independent poetry slams, including Texas Grand Slam and Women of the World Poetry Slam. In addition, she was a member of the 2013 Mic Check Southern Fried team and 2014 Southwest Shootout team. She will become president of Mic Check, a spoken word nonprofit, in summer 2014.
