Celebrate the power of creativity and all the ways we "MAKE" in this fun-filled day of free activities for the entire family. Enjoy art making, interactive family tours, and performances—and have the chance to meet and make alongside local artists!

11:00 AM

Welcome Table and Raffle
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Main Entrance

Pick up a schedule of events, get help with wayfinding, and then tell us what you enjoyed about the festival. Complete a short survey and enter to win a DMA prize pack!

C3 Tower Takeover
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tower Gallery

Head up to Level 4 to explore our temporary Center for Creative Connections space. Make art, read a book, play with toys, or explore artworks created by our community.

Open Studio: Everyday Lives Collage
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tower Studio

Create your own collage inspired by themes of family, everyday life, and identity in the Afro-Atlantic Histories exhibition. Activity available while supplies last.

Sensory Haven
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Founders Room

Looking for a place to take a break? Visit the Founders Room and enjoy peaceful activities to reset and recharge. Explore various stations, including a reading nook, quiet art making, and sensory bins. All ages are welcome!

Meet and Make with an Artist: Brooke Chaney
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Main Entrance

Make your mark! Meet local artist Brook Chaney (Made By Mom), learn more about their work, and add your own touch to a collaborative painting!


11:30 AM

Family Tour: Insect Hunt with the Heard Museum
11:30 a.m., Meet at the main Guest Services Desk

Creep and crawl through the Museum galleries and explore the many insects hiding in the art. Join an insect expert from the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary and a DMA educator on this interactive tour of the Museum’s collection. Tour is limited to the first 30 attendees.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Corasonora 
11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Fleischner Courtyard

Make art using the sun! Join artist duo Corasonora and create your own cyanotype or sun print using natural materials, specially coated paper, and sunlight. At 1:15 p.m., come back and leave your mark on a large-scale collaborative cyanotype!

Meet and Make with an Artist: Sydney Gomez 
11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Hamon Atrium

Cut, paste, create! Meet local artist Sydney Gomez and try your hand at experimenting with paper collage.

Move with Me! with Red Door Dance Academy 
Noon–12:30 p.m., Eagle Family Plaza

Move and groove with Red Door Dance Academy! No prior dance experience 
required.

Meet members of our community and learn more about what their organizations do to make our city shine. Pick up informational flyers, participate in activities, and more.


12:30 PM

Story Time with Michael Sampson
12:30 p.m., Level 4 Landing

Join children’s book author Michael Sampson for story time among the art. Kids will love the rhythm and rhyme that are hallmarks of Sampson’s and the late Bill Martin Jr.’s stories. 


1:00 PM

Pop-Up Art Spot
1:00–4:00 p.m., Level 3
 
Looking for a hands-on experience in the DMA galleries? Visit the Pop-Up Art Spot to look closely at nearby works of art through speed sketching or a scavenger hunt, and discover what it would be like to become a work of art. 


1:30 PM

Family Tour: Movement Tour with Stefanie Tovar 
1:30 p.m., Meet at the main Guest Services Desk

Slow down and spend some time experiencing art through movement, breathing exercises, and music! Join yoga teacher Stefanie Tovar and a DMA educator on this interactive tour of the Museum’s collection. Tour is limited to the first 30 attendees.

Art Making with the Teen Advisory Council 
2:00 p.m., Hamon Atrium

From faraway places to your own backyard, landscapes are all around us! Create your own nature-inspired postcard as you chat with teens from the DMA Teen Advisory Council.


 2:30 PM

Professor Pop’s Bubble Show 
2:30–3:00 p.m., Eagle Family Plaza 

Let Professor Pop amaze you with an interactive outdoor bubble show featuring giant bubbles and bubble-themed magic tricks! Seating is limited.
