Celebrate the power of creativity and all the ways we "MAKE" in this fun-filled day of free activities for the entire family. Enjoy art making, interactive family tours, and performances—and have the chance to meet and make alongside local artists!


SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

11:00 AM

Welcome Table and Raffle
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Main Entrance
Pick up a schedule of events, get help with wayfinding, and then tell us what you enjoyed about the festival. Complete a short survey and be entered to win a DMA prize pack! 

C3 Tower Takeover 
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tower Gallery 
Make your way up to Level 4 to explore our temporary Center for Creative Connections space. Make art, read a book, play with toys, or explore artworks created by our community!

Open Studio: Mementos
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tower Studio
In honor of the Day of the Dead, make your own mixed media mementos to celebrate family members, friends, and other loved ones. Activity available while supplies last.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Jesus Moroles Expressive Arts Vanguard
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tower Gallery
Join students from the Moroles Visual Art Vanguard and turn ordinary materials into an extraordinary artwork! Create an assemblage using foam, cardboard, wire, and your imagination.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Juliana Crownover 
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., outside the Main Entrance
What makes your family special? Join local artist Juliana Crownover and use mixed-media techniques to add your own story to our shared family tree.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Oil and Cotton
11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Eagle Family Plaza
Join artists from Oil and Cotton, a local art studio and store, for a mini watercolor lesson. Paint your favorite fall flowers and experiment with watercolor made from real plants!

Meet and Make with an Artist: Familia Printshop
11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Fleischner Courtyard
Learn the basics and create your own print alongside printmaking pros from Familia Printshop, a printmaking publishing house and community printshop.

Meet members of our community and learn more about what their organizations do to make our city shine. Pick up informational flyers, participate in activities, and more.

Story Time with Lesa Engelthaler
11:30 a.m., Level 2 galleries
Stop in for story time with children’s book author Lesa Engelthaler. Hear her new book, Joan of Art, and learn how Joan uses the power of friendship and bravery to embrace her creative nature. After the story, embrace your creativity with coloring pages by the illustrator.


NOON

Sensory Haven featuring Dallas Art Therapy 
Noon–3:00 p.m., Founders Room 
Looking for a place to take a break? Visit the Founders Room and enjoy peaceful activities to reset and recharge. Explore the various stations, including a reading nook, sensory bins, and quiet art making with Dallas Art Therapy. All ages are welcome!

Toddler Sensory Play Room
Noon–3:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium, Level 1
Jump start your senses at one of our play stations just for children ages 3 and under. Play with our light table, crawl through a tunnel, dance with scarves, explore musical instruments, and much more!

Meet and Make with an Artist: Woodrow Wilson High School National Art Honor Society
Noon–2:00 p.m., Ross Avenue Plaza
Meet students from Woodrow Wilson High School’s National Art Honor Society and be inspired by the Museum’s outdoor art! Use simple materials like straws, pipe cleaners, and Styrofoam to build your own sculpture.


12:30 PM

Sketching in the Galleries with Elisabeth O’Callaghan
12:30–1:30 p.m., Level 3 galleries
We’ll provide the paper and pencils—you provide the imagination! Find inspiration in the artworks around you as you hone your drawing skills. Local artist Elisabeth O’Callaghan will be on hand to share her drawing expertise.


1:00 PM

Performance in the Hamon Atrium featuring the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School WildTones Choir  
1:00 p.m., Hamon Atrium 
Join us for a special performance by talented youth singers, grades 6 through 8, from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, located in Lakewood. These amazing, talented students have performed in numerous places around Dallas and had a recent performance in New York City.

Pop-Up Art Spot
1:00–4:00 p.m., Level 3
Looking for a hands-on experience in the DMA galleries? Visit the Pop-Up Art Spot to look closely at nearby works of art through speed sketching or a scavenger hunt, and discover what it would be like to become a work of art.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Clayberry Dominguez
1:00–3:00 p.m., outside Founders Room
Meet local artist and advocate Clayberry Dominguez and immerse yourself in the creative process as you make art inspired by his mystical comic book drawings.


2:00 PM

Test Your Senses Scavenger Hunt
2:00–3:00 p.m., Level 4 Landing
Jump start your senses with a journey through the galleries! Use your sense of smell, touch, and sight to connect with artworks, and then pick up a small prize when finished. 


3:30 PM

Mariachi Showcase featuring L.V. Stockard Middle School and Stemmons Elementary
3:30 p.m., Hamon Atrium
Enjoy the musical styles of these outstanding Dallas student ensembles as they play music from Mexico featuring violin, guitar, vihuela, and guitarrón. Wearing brightly colored traditional traje de charro, these talented students bring a festive atmosphere to their performance!
