How did America's love affair with technology and mechanization in the early 20th century affect the mechanical medium of photography?

Join Marilyn Waligore, artist and Professor of Aesthetic Studies and Photography at UT Dallas, for a talk about photographs in the exhibition Cult of the Machine: Precisionism in American Art. Waligore will discuss works by renowned artists Paul Strand, Berenice Abbott, and Edward Steichen and will address why, like many painters of their time, some notable American photographers in the first few decades of the 20th century took an interest in industrial subject matter and precise, structured compositions.
