Jazz saxophonist Drew Zaremba, along with his Zextet, will perform his original compositions, including a new piece inspired by Jackson Pollock.
Zaremba is quickly earning a worldwide reputation as a passionate conductor, innovative writer, and fiery performer. He has written and arranged pieces for Wycliffe Gordon, Chuck Findley, Eddie Gomez, Erin Dickins, and Marlene VerPlank; is published through Sierra music; and has recorded twenty of his pieces with the University of North Texas One and Two O’Clock Lab Bands. He was named a winner of Downbeat’s Best Undergraduate Soloist on saxophone, and earned second place in the Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition in 2014. Whether through his writing or playing, Zaremba always seeks to develop new audiences for his music through his small group, the Zextet; his big band, the Zaremba Jazz Fellowship; and his orchestra, the Unity Orchestra.
The After Hours Music Showcase is part of Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art.
