Stay up late with the DMA as we celebrate Frida: Beyond the Myth. Enjoy music, dance, art-making activities, tours, and more!

Friday, November 15, 5:00–11:00 p.m. 
$25 public, $15 students: includes all Late Night programs, performances, and activities, plus access to the Frida Kahlo exhibition and all special exhibitions.  

Free for DMA Members  

Join us for a fun evening of music, dance, art making, artist demonstrations, and tours inspired by the artist’s life and work. Our popular exhibition Frida: Beyond the Myth brings together 60 works by Frida Kahlo and her contemporaries to explore the life of one of the most iconic 20th-century artists. We’ll celebrate all things Frida and do a deep dive into some of the myths revealed in this fascinating exhibition. Bonus points for those wearing their most colorful Frida-inspired fashions!

Performances in the Atrium by Rosas Divinas Mariachi, Grupo Pakal: Mayan Performing Arts, and Ballet Folklorico DFW.

Rosas Divinas Mariachi

Collection tours featuring Surrealist artwork that influenced Frida Kahlo (available in English and Spanish) and two tours of the DMA's Indigenous Mexican art collection. 

Hands-On Activities including an updated Mexican Art History self-guide, Frida Flower Wall and photo op, leather flower making station, and artist demonstrations by featured Dallas-based artists Olivia Arratia, Tina Medina, and Michelle Reyes.

Grupo Pakal

Enjoy fabulous Frida-inspired drinks and nibbles at the DMA Cafe, including Mexican Shrimp Cocktail and Achiote Chicken Torta with a refreshing Paloma or Horchata. You'll also be able to sample Frida-inspired mocktails while you take a mini-mixology class on Eagle Family Plaza with Beyond the Bar Bottle Shop. Learn how to make an alcohol-free Paloma and Pan De Muertos. Mocktail 101 demonstrations take place at 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. 

Plus, don't miss your chance to Ask a Scholar! Talk with the foremost Frida Kahlo expert and ask him questions about the artist's work and her fascinating and extraordinary life. Salomon Grimberg, author of multiple books on Frida Kahlo, will be here to answer your questions and will have fun Frida-related gifts* to share from the DMA Store.
