Broad Strokes: 15 Women Who Made Art and Made History (in That Order) is a lively, accessible look into 15 diverse, brilliant, and multifaceted artists who also just happen to be women. Called a “terrific essay collection” by NPR’s Susan Stamberg, Broad Strokes brings to light the lives and careers of these artists alongside beautiful portraits and reproductions of the artists’ works by illustrator Lisa Congdon. In this talk, Quinn will discuss her work and some of the reasons behind her selection of artists.
Quinn has worked for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has taught art history and architecture at Portland State University, the Chautauqua Institution, and elsewhere. After the talk, the author will sign copies of her book in the DMA Store.
This talk is part of Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art.
