See highlights from the new exhibition Cult of the Machine: Precisionism and American Art in a talk by DMA curator Sue Canterbury. This tour-de-force exhibition includes key paintings by American Precisionists such as Charles Sheeler, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Charles Demuth, and iconic works by the masters of straight photography such as Paul Strand, Berenice Abbott, and Edward Steichen. Canterbury will discuss how American art and design took on highly structured geometric compositions and a streamlined, “machined” aesthetic in response to America's fixation on new technology and mechanization.
This talk is part of Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art.
