Experience the DMA’s dazzling exhibition Cartier and Islamic Art through the unique lens of the Arabian Nights, the most influential collection of stories in world literature. Delve into the lavish illustrations and experience the rich historical context of an "electric new translation" by Yasmine Seale and edited by Paulo Horta.

The book discussion will be led by Dr. Jaina Sanga, author, literary scholar, and Fellow of the Dallas Institute of Humanities. Enjoy conversation, hors d'oeuvres, and a dramatic reading by Dallas actor Maryam Obaidullah Baig. Wrap up the evening with an immersive private tour of the Cartier exhibition, which includes illustrations by Léon Carré and Edmond Dulac from the 1904 translation of One Thousand and One Nights, and of course, Cartier jewels and designs inspired by materials from India, Iran, and the Arab lands.

This event is limited to 50 participants. The Annotated Arabian Nights is available for purchase separately in the DMA Store and online at ShopDMA.org. We encourage you to read the book in advance, but it is not required.
