Celebrate the opening of My│grationa new exhibition in the Center for Creative Connections inspired by input from the Dallas community. The exhibition explores the migration of people, objects, and ideas through art from the DMA’s collection. Join us for a day of fun-filled, free activities for all ages. 

My|gration  was made possible by The Bonnie Pitman Education Endowment to Do Something New.

Stories Alive! with Toni Simmons
11:30 a.m.noon | C3 Theater
Celebrate the many cultures of America with master storyteller Toni Simmons. Enjoy folktales, songs, and rhythms, and become part of the performance as Simmons weaves her storytelling magic!

Open Studio: Pompom Making with GAIA Empowered Women
Noon4:00 p.m. | Art Studio, C3
Team up with artisans from GAIA Empowered Women in the studio to make animal pompoms and create a community garland to celebrate the opening of My|gration.

World Music with Jamal Mohamed Trio
1:002:00 p.m. | C3 Gallery
Enjoy a world music performance, featuring music from Egypt, Morocco, Greece, and Indonesia, performed by the Jamal Mohamed Trio. Mohamed is known for his virtuosity on the doumbek, incorporating many innovative jazz and Latin styles with this ancient instrument.

Readings from Crossing the Line with Cry Havoc Theater Company

Their stories fill news feeds and television screensyoung people caught in the political crossfire in the national conversation on immigration. However they arrive, these young people have become political pawns in a national debate about identity and patriotism. Join Cry Havoc Theater Company for a special reading of Crossing the Line, a documentary-style production that raises the question: where do we go from here? Crossing the Line is directed by Mara Richards Bim and Tim Johnson, co-produced by Cry Havoc Theater Company and Kitchen Dog Theater.

Moving Reflections with C3 Visiting Artists Shoshana McIntosh and Marie-Claire Valdez
