Join Form Creatives to experience the profound history of Freedman Town, a historic Black community in North Dallas, through the lens of collective artistic expression. Unveiled is an interactive community mural that offers a platform for visual storytelling, inviting participants to engage in a shared reflection on the resilience, culture, and legacy of this pivotal neighborhood.

Under the direction of founder Ashley Johnson, Form Creatives teaching artists William Toliver, Ebony Lewis, and Bobby Miller will guide guests in the activity, contributing to the group art-making project that will result in a finished artwork.

Form Creatives logoPresented at the Dallas Museum of Art, this project underscores the power of art as a medium for preserving history and fostering dialogue. Through thoughtful collaboration, Unveiled illuminates the narratives of Freedman Town, honoring its lasting impact on the cultural and social fabric of Dallas. Join us in creating a living testament to a community whose stories continue to inspire and shape the future.

This is a drop-in activity on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

More about our partners: Form Creatives LLC was founded by Ashley Jordan, a visionary artist and fine arts educator driven by a deep passion for fostering creativity and artistic development. Partnering with the South Dallas Cultural Center, Jordan is on a mission to reshape the visual arts landscape. Her vision? To ignite a transformative journey for creatives of every age and skill level, inviting them to explore the rich, diverse narratives of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) through their art. This isn’t just about enhancing artistic skills; it’s about championing a movement that celebrates and elevates underrepresented voices in the arts. Join us in this inspiring quest to redefine creativity and empower the next generation of artists.
