Join Dr. Nicole R. Myers, Interim Chief Curator and The Barbara Thomas Lemmon Senior Curator of European Art, as she discusses Van Gogh’s stunning series of olive grove paintings, brought together at the DMA for the very first time. Produced during the artist’s yearlong stay at the asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Van Gogh’s olive groves comprise one of his most ambitious, yet least well known, series. This lecture will explore Van Gogh’s motivations for painting this unconventional subject and the deeply personal meaning it held for him.
