Because we believe that art is a gift meant for all, general admission to the Dallas Museum of Art is FREE. You can reserve your general admission and special exhibition tickets online in advance or on-site at the Guest Services Desk. Tickets are required for all guests regardless of age.

DMA Member Tickets
Please note that both a general admission and special exhibition reservation are required for every person, regardless of age. DMA Members can reserve free tickets online—all exhibitions are free for DMA Members.

School Group Information
School groups with 10 or more students are required to make a reservation and submit payment at least two weeks in advance; groups without a reservation may be turned away. All school, homeschool, community class, church, recreational center, and summer camp groups must book through the School Group Visit Program and may not use general admission tickets to visit.
Museum Etiquette
- Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult.
- For the safety of your children, others, and the artwork, please do not carry your child on your shoulders.
- Please be respectful of our building and other guests and do not run in the Museum.
- Help us keep our artwork safe by staying a minimum of three feet away from the art at all times.
- Our art collection is delicate and must be treated as such; please do not touch any work of art, Plexiglass casing, or sculpture, including those outdoors, unless otherwise noted.
- Help us keep our spaces clean. Please no food, drinks, or any art tool that is not a pencil or sketchbook in our galleries.
- Sketchbooks cannot be larger than 8 x12 without prior approval.
- Some items are not allowed in any of our spaces, including in our Coat Check. Please click here for a full list of prohibited items.
Bags
- Guests are both welcome and encouraged to leave bags at our complimentary Coat Check, located at the Main Entrance.
- These include, but are not limited to, backpacks, purses, suitcases, duffel bags, tote bags, crossbody bags, and briefcases.
- Bags cannot be worn on guests’ backs for the safety of both our artwork and other guests.

Accessibility
The Museum is fully wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available at the Guest Services Desk but are limited. Please visit the Accessibility page for full information or email access@dma.org if you have any accessibility questions we have not answered.
- Service animals are welcome in the Museum. Please note that therapy animals, emotional support animals, and companion animals are not considered service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act and are not permitted in the Museum.
Food and Drinks
- For your safety and comfort, food and beverages cannot be checked into our Coat Check.
- Outside food and drink are not allowed in the DMA Cafe.
- No outside alcohol or glass containers are allowed in or around the premises.
- Smoking and vaping are not allowed in or around the premises.
- Picnics are allowed on the lawn of Eagle Family Plaza, in the Sculpture Garden, and in Fleischner Courtyard with prior approval.
- No food and drink of any kind are allowed in our galleries, including baby bottles, sippy cups, kids’ snack cups, and candy.
- The Tower Gallery, located on Level 4, is a family-friendly space that is available for snacks and bottle-feeding needs. Hours are Thursday–Sunday, noon to 4:00 p.m.
Guest Photography
- We encourage guests to capture memories of their visit to the DMA with non-flash, personal-use photography and filming. No equipment larger than a handheld, single one-inch lens camera and no tripods, selfie sticks, or monopods are allowed.

Portrait Shoots
- For the safety of the artworks on view and to preserve the experience of our guests, we are not able to accommodate portrait or posed photoshoots.
- This includes, but is not limited to, engagement and wedding photos (without a private event venue reservation* and contract), senior and graduation photos, family portraits, fashion photoshoots, and any staged photoshoots with a model.
Photography and filming that involves a costume, formal wear, outfit changes, extended posing time, or use of anything larger than a handheld, single-lens camera is considered a portrait shoot and is not permitted.

Commercial Shoots
- Commercial photography and/or filming requests may be permitted at the discretion of the DMA. Photography and/or filming must take place on a Monday when the Museum is closed to the public and is available in limited areas of the Museum and its grounds. A certificate of insurance meeting the minimum limits of liability as stipulated in the Photography Agreement is required in advance of the shoot. A location fee will be assessed based on the total time needed for the shoot (including set-up and tear-down), staffing, and security requirements. Photography and/or filming at the DMA must be requested at least four weeks in advance of the shoot day.
