Guided School Group Visits

School visits at the DMA facilitate wonder, joy, and creativity in students who participate, and they are specially designed for K–12 classroom, homeschool, and community groups of 10 or more children.

Our goal for every student is to help them make meaningful personal connections with a few purposefully chosen works of art. Guided tours at the DMA are interactive and focus on 4–5 works of art instead of giving an overview tour of the DMA. It is impossible to take in all the DMA has to offer in one school visit! If you are interested in students seeing as much as possible of the DMA during their visit, please use this link to schedule a self-guided visit.

Starting in September, new per-student fees will help the DMA support its educational programs and ensure equitable learning experiences for all students who visit the Museum. School visits are always free for Dallas ISD schools. Check out our guided-tour pricing below:

PLEASE NOTE: Payment is due with a final head count at least two weeks before the visit. Payment options will be sent with your confirmation email. No changes to head count or tour theme will be accepted after the two-week deadline.

Recipes for Art 
Learn how artists use the ingredients of line, shape, and color as their "recipe" to create endless varieties of art. Tours include multisensory activities, sketching, stories, movement, and more. (Recommended for K–1st grade; limited to 30 students per hour) 

Stories in Art 
Have fun learning to "read" stories in art from a variety of times and places. (Recommended for 2nd–3rd grade; limited to 30 students per hour) 

A Looking Journey  
Take an interactive journey through the magical world of art by looking carefully, thinking critically, and paying attention to what you feel. (Recommended for 4-5th grade; limited to 60 students per hour)

My DMAzing 4th Grade Visit*
A themed interactive exploration of the DMA created with Dallas ISD curriculum. The 2024-2025 themes include: 

• All About Me: portraits, family, stories and personal objects. 

• All About Us: cityscapes, landscapes, community, stories and cultural objects.

Explore the connections between science, technology, engineering, art, and math throughout the Museum’s collection. (Limited to 30 students per hour)

Learn about notable highlights throughout the Museum's global collection. (Limited to 50 students per hour) 

All tours include works of art from the entire DMA collection, but you may request that your guided tour focuses on any of the specific collection areas below: 

• Indigenous American Art  
  Indigenous art from Mexico and Central and South America (Limited to 30 students per hour) 

• Colonial to Modern American Art  
  17th- to 20th-century United States (Limited to 30 students per hour)   

• Arts of Europe 
  Classical times to 20th-century Europe (Limited to 60 students per hour)   

• Arts of the Ancient World 
  Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Asia, and the Americas (Limited to 30 students per hour)   

• Arts of Africa, Asia, and the Pacific 
  Ancient to 20th-century Africa, Asia, and the Pacific (Limited to 30 students per hour)  

• Contemporary Art 
  1945 to the present (Limited to 30 students per hour)

Interested in bringing your students to see a special exhibition? Please request this on your form at least three weeks before your requested date. All special exhibitions can accommodate 30 students per hour, except as noted below.
